Calley & Tyler by Alexandra Ruiz

Today my heart is so full! It's amazing when you get to see two families come together in genuine love and affection. When we filmed the wedding of Calley & Tyler at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado, we immediately felt the absolute overflow of joy and celebration from everyone attending.

Also, a good test of a couple on their wedding is how they're going to handle the weather. Just minutes after the ceremony during the portrait session, a total downpour happened. We all hid in a tiny shed on the property and waited for the rain to pass. Calley & Tyler took it like champs. We're so glad we waited it out to because of the amazing shots we got. See for yourself :)

We love you Calley & Tyler!

Cheers to many years of JOY!

Becca & Jake by Alexandra Ruiz

Friends! My sister got married on July 3rd and it truly was a magical event. Jake and Becca have dated for the past two years. When they met, Becca had a two year old--sweet Tatum--the cutest little one ever (I know I'm bias-but whatever-it's my blog). Jake pursued Becca and Tatum, and our family watched as both of them fell in love with him.

AND here we are--two years later at the most epic of venues--Spruce Mountain. They got hitched. We all cried tears of joy. We ate, drank and were merry.

Good luck not crying when Tatum gets a ring from Jake--and also Jake's face when she walks down the aisle--slay me!

Also, there are two videos. One is much shorter and way worth your time. And yes, it is me who does the tuck and roll.

Cheers to Becca & Jake! We love you.

I'm shamelessly obsessed with Garrett and Janie's wedding. Not only are they the sweetest lovers and some of our greatest friends--but their wedding was so darn magical.

Borrowed and Blue featured their wedding today and you definitely should take a look. Link is here.

Plus, their photos were done by the amazing Alison Rose Photography. Win Win!

VOTE 2016 WEDDING FILM AWARDS: MAKE C&L CREATE AGAIN. by Alexandra Ruiz

2016 was such a full year for us here at Canvas and Light. The year prior was the our first year of business. We didn't exactly know how we were going to grow or if anyone would like our work. We did 6 weddings in 2015, and we'll finish this year (with our last wedding on New Year's) reaching 40 weddings.

All of us here at C&L feel so honored and honestly in awe that so many of you invited us into your special day.

Along the way, its certainly been a learning experience. We're certainly not perfect, but love what we do and really love perfecting our craft.

From the many destinations we've traveled to this year, including Texas, Minnesota, San Juan Islands, Seattle, Hawaii, California and the lovely cities in Colorado--we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us film your wedding and/or watching our work. It's our joy to capture the most important intimate day of your life.

First and foremost our audience is the bride and groom. Our hope is that each and every experience is more than what you hoped for.

BUT every once in a while, there comes a time to honor the couples and video itself. We are so excited to have four of our films nominated for "Best Of" in the following categories:

2016 Wedding Film of the Year: Janie & Garrett

Best Groom Reaction: Jenny & Brett

Save the Date/Proposal/Elopement: Shaunese & Joshua

Most Beautiful Venue: Rochelle & Dakota

HELP US OUT and go and vote for each one.

HOW you might ask? Scroll to the bottom of each link listed above, put in your email and then vote for our film! TELL YO FRIENDS and then THEIR FRIENDS and then YOUR DAD and then YOUR MOM and EVERYONE you see TODAY. AND then tell ME (Alex) that you voted for US (Canvas & Light) and I'll make you a homemade MOSCOW MULE. Or a tea. Or whatever want.

But for real! VOTE!

Cheers!

Alisha & Ross -- Sanctuary Wedding by Alexandra Ruiz

So happy to share with you all the wedding of Alisha & Ross!

They were a dream to film. They got married at one of the most elegant venues in Colorado--the Sanctuary. The love they share is genuine and magical, and their joy radiates to every person.

The friends mean the most to them--hence the 5 minutes of dancing in the video per their request. Plus the song they chose makes you want to dance as well. And hey were aren't complaining. We got to dance with them for hours! They are truly the most fun!

Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!

HAWAII! Land of beautiful people and lots of salt water. by Alexandra Ruiz

It was a real treat for us to head to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for a week.

Among shooting the stunning wedding of Rochelle and Dakota, we also

got to explore the island.

We hiked to find epic views (see drone footage), snorkeled under the sea to find little creatures (see dolphins),

and ate far too much sushi (see my American Express bill).

It just so happens that one of my best friend's lives on the island. We've been obsessing over each other since middle school.

And just like the good ol' days, we got to adventure together.

I also brought her one of my favorite Anthropologie dresses that can totally double as an island wedding dress. And we made a flower crown from

little gems we found on the beach. I pulled out my camera and just like that a whimsical Hawaiian wedding shoot was born!

Watch the video below to see the glory.

Mahalo!

Featured in Country Living! by Alexandra Ruiz

Fall is upon us, and we aren't mad about it.

Some of the most magical weddings we've filmed happen under the changing leaves.

Country Living recently highlighted "The most romantic fall wedding videos."

Lucky us, we got featured. Michael and Brittany's wedding was perfection in Aspen.

Their friends and family flew from Dallas to the Rocky Mountains to eat, drink and celebrate.

And let me tell you, those Texas folk know how to throw down.

Enjoy our video along with the other lovely videos featured!

Cheers!
